Tired of another month gone by without a positive pregnancy test? Priya Fertility System Now Available

More and more women are postponing parenthood, only to discover when they’re ready to start a family that getting pregnant takes way longer than they thought.

Chalk some of this up to a glaring lack of formal fertility education (I’m looking at you seventh grade sex ed!) and fertility methods that largely guesstimate when it’s prime babymaking time.

The unfortunate truth is fewer than 20% of women these days are able to identify the fertile time in their cycle. That’s why it’s exciting when a new wearable hits the market that helps women find their fertile window better than any other method currently out there (1).

If you’re reading this, you’re probably pretty savvy to the most common ways to identify the fertile window. Perhaps you’ve tracked your basal body temperature, studied your cervical mucus, or peed on test strips to measure luteinizing hormone to see if you’re about to ovulate.

And yet, despite all of your best efforts, pregnancy has thus far eluded you and your partner.

Don’t stress — it’s not you. You deserve better.

When it comes to standard fertility awareness methods, “the problem is none of those are very precise or very convenient,” says Dr. Gerard Reilly, an OB/GYN at Axia Women’s Health and principal investigator of Priya Research Studies (1).

The good news is there’s now (finally!) a simpler FDA-registered alternative that’s way more accurate.Looking for a new way to identify your fertile window? Check out the Priya Personal Fertility System!

Pitfalls of today’s methods to get pregnant

When Dr. Reilly talks about problems, he means pitfalls with fertility tracking methods that you may have tried or are using.

Checking for fertile cervical mucus is one. Fertile CM tends to peak around 1-2 days before ovulation, becoming thin, clear or white, and slippery — like an egg white. However, the exact look and feel of fertile CM runs the gamut. Its variability makes it tricky to identify whether you’re about to ovulate or not. And, faithfully doing this method requires sticking your fingers in your vagina once or twice a day. While free, it is not always super convenient or easy to interpret (2).

That’s why many women also rely on urine-based LH tests to look for the hormonal surge associated with ovulation. And while the test kits do help some couples get pregnant, the results aren’t universally trustworthy. Amid their myriad problems, LH tests may detect the surge too late to try to get pregnant or not at all (3).

A third popular option is tracking basal body temperature, which is your waking temperature throughout your cycle. The idea is to watch for a tiny uptick in temp that indicates you’ve ovulated. The chief problem with BBT is it doesn’t alert you before ovulation (4).

Now, however, there’s a new fertility sensor. It may appear to build on the method of BBT tracking, but it is actually entirely different. Core body temperatures are directly shaped by hormones. So by capturing continuous core body temperature, sophisticated algorithms can be created to detect the hormonal changes that predict and confirm ovulation. BBT isn’t able to detect hormonal patterns because it is only one data point a day and hormones fluctuate throughout the day. Not to mention that oral and wrist BBTs have a lot of “noise” and are hard to capture accurately.  What is this new technology called? Glad you asked :) It’s the Priya Personal Fertility Sensor.

What is Priya?

Priya is a soft, comfortable ring-shaped wearable that goes in your vagina. Once inserted, Priya continuously checks your temperature every 6 minutes for the entire duration of your cycle. Priya does all of the heavy lifting of fertility tracking for you (1).

Priya is far more sophisticated than either popping a thermometer in your mouth or peeing on a stick once per day. Since Priya records core body temperature every 6 minutes, the over 200  data points allow for Priya to be able to detect hormonal shifts that occur day or night to predict or confirm important changes in your body, such as impending ovulation and confirmation of ovulation.

  • Core temperature is not  influenced by stress, medications, or a bad night’s sleep the way BBT is, making it more accurate (1).
  • Continuous core body temperature monitoring captures hormonal shifts that may occur day or night
  • Priya uses sophisticated algorithms to interpret the data to predict and confirm important changes in the body.

By design, the Priya Sensor then communicates with an app-based algorithm on your phone — so you can monitor your cycle in real-time (1).

Priya notifies you when you’re most likely to conceive. On average, the Priya App predicts the fertile window 4 days prior to ovulation. By crunching the numbers on a trove of unique-to-you fertility data, Priya can anticipate ovulation's occurrence (not tell you afterward when it’s too late to conceive) (1).

In fact, Priya’s clinical study results show that Priya predicts ovulation an average of 2.7 days earlier than LH tests, according to new research presented at the 2021 meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the top professional group for OB/GYNs (1).

Priya also gives you peace of mind by avoiding the trust issues that can plague LH kits. In the study, Priya detected ovulation in 2 women after their LH kits missed the surge. An ultrasound confirmed the women’s ovulation, proving Priya was more accurate than LH kits (1).

And at this time in our lives, we all deserve more peace of mind — not less — when it comes to our fertility journey.
